Christmas Wedding Baby

Posted December 22, 2015 by qotsm in Film

Written and directed by award-winning NYU graduate Kiara C. Jones, “Christmas Wedding Baby” is a refreshing look at love, life, relationships, and family. At first glance, you may think you’ve seen these people before, but trust me, you haven’t. The narrative of this film may have you feeling as if you are having a déjà-vu moment. That’s only because these are familiar people and personalities that we all know. It’s your family and my family amped up to ten.

“Christmas Wedding Baby” shows African Americans in relatable situations having rational reactions and fully fleshed-out human emotions.”  Kiara C. Jones

Wedding Baby poster“Working on this movie was such a wonderful experience. It was like one of those great Thanksgiving dinners where everybody brings their best dish, says Kiara.” It was like I built a ship, then everybody got onboard with the same destination in mind.”

The film highlights the lives of three sisters, each in different stages of their lives, and the complicated relationships they have with their significant others, their mother, as well as each other.

Lori, played by Lisa Arrindell Anderson, is the oldest sister. Single, successful, dependable, and practical, she’s smack dab in the middle of her sisters, her mother, and a life crisis.

Charlotte, the middle sister, played by Frances Turner, is in a long-term relationship with the father of her two children. She is focused, hard working, ambitious, and looking to get out of a life that has somehow become a rut.

Kiara C Jones and castThe youngest sister is Andrea, played by Kimberley Drummond, the bride to be. She is young, naive, and unsure about her life, her ex, and her intended. All three women are at a crossroads and have a decision to make with possible life altering consequences.

Maria Howell is Miranda, an overbearing, outspoken, meddlesome yet loveable matriarch who must be seen to be believed. The cast is rounded out by actors, Stephen Hill, Sawandi Wilson, and Tad Jennings.

Kiara C. Jones had already worked with some of the cast from past productions. “I knew from the beginning I wanted Frances Turner and Stephen Hill to play Charlotte and Isaac. I absolutely love the cast of this movie, and couldn’t imagine making this film without them”, she says. Jones also wore many hats while making “Christmas Wedding Baby”. She has a writer, producer, and director credit in this movie. She also wrote one of the songs for the movie, and played a big role in the distribution as well.

Kiara C JonesShe is an extremely talented filmmaker who is definitely on the rise, and one to watch in the near future. ”A wonderful film I produced for director Marco Coppola entitled “The Nearest Human Being” should be out in the spring”, says Jones. She is already on to the next film, “Manhattan Millionaire” which should begin filming in the spring of 2016 as well.

“Christmas Wedding Baby” is available now on Netflix, and airs on BET on Tuesday, December 22nd, at 10:00 am. Don’t miss it this Christmas or anytime of the year! This is a “Quiet on the Set Magazine” favorite. A+
