Dante Briggins

Posted February 22, 2017 by qotsm in Arts & Entertainment

Bronx born, actor/model, Dante Briggins began his career at the age 21 when he was discovered leaving an H&M store in New York City. He recalls a gentleman chasing him out of the store as he was leaving. Dante was totally under the impression he was being stopped because the guy thought he had shoplifted. Dante quickly pulled out his receipt and said “Sir, I promise you I paid for all these items”. The gentleman told him he didn’t work for H&M, he worked for a modeling agency. He asked him had he ever thought about modeling and gave him a business card. The company representative also told him that the agency is one of the top five in the world.

Dante admits he was a little leery before he pursued this proposition. He had some photographer friends he garnered to take headshots of him, then he finally contacted the company for an interview. Since the initial H&M episode, Dante is certainly making a buzz in the modeling industry. Dante has been seen in various ad campaigns and modeled for NYFW, LAFW, Jersey City Fashion Week, Bronx Fashion Week, and Plitz Fashion week. He has ripped runways all over the world.

Dante didn’t study acting, but he did study some music and dance, which is his first love. His acting career began with small roles in a variety of music videos as male leads and a series of short films. His good looks got him a lead role in a music video titled “Broken Record”. Reality star Allison Ceglio who was on the reality show “For the love of Ray J”, saw his photos. Learning the lingo and protocol of those early projects helped with roles in larger feature film projects.

He has since been seen in many feature films. He has built quite an impressive resume, and is known for his work on Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015) Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) Allegiant (2016) and Money Monster (2016). Dante can also be seen in The Reunion (2016), the horror film “Goblin”, Discontinue If Death (2016), The Blame Game (2016), and Can’t Make You Love Me (2017).

Dante has the distinction of being one of the few actors who have portrayed multiple characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as well as appearing in the DC Extended Universe. He has portrayed characters for both Marvel Studios and Lucasfilm as a stormtrooper in Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

With his talent and persistence, there seems to be no stopping Dante. We will certainly be watching to see where he will appear next. Whether on the runway or on the big screen, Dante is an impressive force to be reckoned with, and the world seems to be his for the taking. Look out Hollywood!
