In the 1970s’ and the 1980s’ film had a huge impact on today’s fashion. African American films such as Super Fly, The Mack, Cleopatra Jones, Coffee, and Cotton Comes to Harlem set a trend for urban fashion today.

Today ladies are wearing big hair, puffs, natural afro bush with large frame sun shades that sculpt the face: Large hoop earrings, hot pants, buffalo sandals, platforms wedge shoes and thigh high boots. The 70s and 80s styles have recycled with blouses draping off one shoulder and one sleeved dresses accessorized with over sized gold chains. A pair of vintage bell bottoms, skinny jeans, stretch pants, or tapered slacks that contour the derriere, gives the glam look a cutting edge which contributes to that funky soulful urban look. Oh! Don’t forget to snatch your waist with wide band belts to accentuate the midriff area.

Premiering this fall…Color…Color…and more Color!

Denim has made a comeback. Dark bleached; distressed, studded, worn and torn is a retro look that is emerging for the fall. For rainy, cold or even bad hair days the ladies are crowning their heads with head bands and turbans embellished with jewels and flowers. This type of headgear is being worn during all seasons.

Colorful scarfs, ponchos and swing coat style sweaters with an asymmetrical contour have also resurfaced for you to wear during the cool days and cold nights of the fall and winter season. Complete your ensemble with real or faux fur, long or short, gives your outfit a bold statement. Adding these outerwear garments to your wardrobe creates a chic sophisticated look.

The 60s and 70s looks have made a comeback with men wearing bow ties, slim ties, slim fitted shirts, and turtlenecks. Men are being more daring wearing bolder patterns and colors like pinks, yellows, and various shades of blues.

Tapered suit jackets, flat front straight leg pants emulating the Motown and Beatles mania era have resurfaced creating a popular style.
