The Elijah BLAND Brand

Posted July 27, 2016 by qotsm in Arts & Entertainment

He is a multi-talented vocalist, lyricist, musician, and producer. The smooth, soulful sounds of Elijah BLAND puts him in a class all his own. His talent far exceeds that of the average artist and performer these days. He is a multi-talented vocalist, lyricist, musician, and producer. His smooth style and vocals reflects the suave sophistication of R &B singers of the 70’s. His range can deliver sounds reminiscent of Al Green, Michael Jackson, Prince, and Isaac Hayes, with a touch of Bill Withers. With his latest single, entitled “The One”, Bland delivers an uplifting ballad that many listeners are calling an instant wedding classic.

How his Journey began:

Born and raised in Hackensack, New Jersey, Bland is a self-taught musician who always had an ear for music since he started playing piano at the tender age of five.  He was an exceptional basketball player, who earned a full scholarship to play NCAA Division II college basketball while simultaneously studying for his Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science and Music. As a standout student-athlete, he generally kept his artistic abilities under the radar. In his freshmen year, he and his college teammate used to work on music after practice in their dorm room. Then he started writing for local artists. While still in school in Massachusetts, he was asked to write and perform his own songs. First, he wrote a couple of songs, and then an entire album. He has been bitten by the music bug ever since.

EB pianoElijah also spent numerous hours perfecting his songwriting and producing skills.  Writing songs for local artists led him to discover his own voice, which would soon spark a promising career as an independent recording artist and full-time entertainer. He categorizes his style as R&B Soul. He is also an actor, who has done some films and even commercials for Porsche.

Elijah has been featured both nationally and internationally. He gained national attention with a yearlong tour that included live performances in over 30 major U.S. markets. He appeared on the Quiet Storm with Lenny Green, 96.3 FM WHUR, and The Michael Baisden Show. He has also headlined on Arise Entertainment 360, Sirius XMJ, and the Capitol Jazz Super Cruise. He doesn’t like to name drop, but he has shared the stage with such music legends as George Duke, Stanley Clarke, Lalah Hathaway, Will Downing, Dwele, Boney James, Yolanda Adams, and countless others.

Elijah hasn’t limited his artistry or dimmed his light in the least. He has a flair for the arts, and has equipped himself with acting skills encompassing theater, television, and voice overs. If he could dance (and maybe he can), one would consider him a triple threat.

He has affinity for quotes. This is one of his favorites:  “An artist cannot fail; it is a success to be one.”  -Charles Horton Cooley.

EB performElijah believes his journey is to be as authentic as possible. He accepts that there are many obstacles throughout the journey of an artist.  He also believes the four pillars on which he stands are crucial in his efforts to remain focused, determined, and encouraged:

Passion:  “Burning desire to achieve.”

Purpose:  “Fulfilling my destiny (ultimately success).”

Faith: “Strong belief that I am covered and protected by the most high.”

Love: “The root of it all”

“Whatever you do, do it with passion, purpose, faith and love.

In his quest for artistic excellence across all platforms, Elijah aims to deliver a consistent message of passion, purpose, faith, and love.  It is through this mission that he continues to uplift and inspire current and future generations, making the Elijah BLAND brand one we will never forget.
