Posted September 11, 2015 by qotsm in Arts & Entertainment

When Crystal Aiken decided to take a chance and leave her hometown of Tacoma, Washington, to go to Los Angeles to tryout for a singing competition, she had no idea that this would be the opportunity that would change her life forever. A registered nurse with an anointed singing voice, Crystal hadn’t even heard about the show when a woman whom she didn’t know personally, but had heard her sing persuaded her to audition.

Aiken choice 2The competition was Black Entertainment Television’s first all gospel talent show “Sunday Best”. Several weeks later, the church girl from the Pacific Northwest beat out some of the country’s best gospel singers to become the 2008 BET “Sunday Best” winner.

This sister with the pretty smile and bubbly personality who just “loves to sing gospel and inspire people to worship God”, won a major recording contract with Zomba Gospel Records and a 2008 Toyota Camry.

A lot has happened in Crystal Aiken’s life since then. She released a self titled album and quit her nursing job. “Quiet on the Set Magazine” caught up with her while touring and spreading the word through song, to find out how winning “Sunday Best” transformed her whole world, and the lives of those all around her.
