TIPS FOR THE PERFECT CHRISTMAS DINNER

Posted December 21, 2015 by qotsm in Fashion & Style

The kitchen has always been the most magical place during the holidays. It is the only time of the year you really have to make all your culinary magic happen to assure it is the most wonderful time of the year. Remember as a child, running to the kitchen to see what mom and grandma were whipping up? The whole house smelled heavenly with the scent of cakes, cookies, and pies wafting through the air, mmm! Who could resist? There were more scrumptious creations coming from that one room than all the toys coming from Santa’s workshop.

But the question is, how do you ensure that your December 25th meal is better than ever? Because it is the most important meal of the whole year, here are some tips to make it a memorable one that will have friends and family talking for the next 365 days to come.

Now let’s reveal some of the secrets for the perfect Christmas dinner:

Help:

First of all, you may need some help cooking all of that food. Reach out to the people in your inner circle. Don’t try to do it all. It is very easy to become overwhelmed when making such a big feast.

Also, start early. Preparation is key. Prep your food in advance so you don’t have so much to do on the big day. Make ahead dishes that can be frozen or refrigerated, will save you a lot of time and frustration. A wise cook already knows this.

A nice roasted turkey:

A big juicy turkey is always a good choice for Christmas dinner. A beautiful bird on the table will always impress your guests and steal the show. As I stated before, preparation is key. Soaking the turkey for a day in a brine, will not only flavor and season it, this process also keeps it moist and juicy. Here’s a quick and easy, yet flavorful brine for the perfect turkey:

Take 1 chopped onion, 1 half lemon, then pop it in the turkey and roast as usual.

This will keep your turkey moist with a nice taste of lemon.

Presentation:

Just like a lot of things on Christmas, presentation is everything on the special day.

Use the entire length of the knife to carve.

Make sure to cut against the grain when slicing your turkey.

If you use a fork to hold the meat in place, be sure to press lightly; ideally you should just use the fork to move the sliced meat. Don’t butcher your beautiful bird!

The best Christmas gravy:

The tastiest sauce or gravy for turkey is always made using the juices from the roasting pan.

Color is flavor, so don’t be shy about scraping the pan to incorporate all those dark bits at the bottom. Add a little bit of stock or water to give your sauce more body.

Add a little bit of cherry sauce, or horseradish, chopped mint, or different herbs to bring the best of the best out. Simply use your imagination.

Good luck on having the perfect holiday dinner, and the merriest Christmas ever!
