“Sister, Sister, Sister” by K. Nichole Worsely and Linda Gentry
Sister, Sister, Sister is a unique and entertaining drama about three sisters from different eras that find each other through the death of their biological father. The sisters discover life, love, and forgiveness when they meet for the first time. In this film, his daughters express their level of anger, misunderstanding and confusion of their father not being present after their childhood years. This journey will take you over three decades, of love, life and the realization of one man’s passion and his love of music over the love of his own daughters.
Sister, Sister, Sister takes you on a journey through the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s and shows how the father, by trying to find his big break in the music industry, compromises his relationship with his daughters. The sisters suffer from his love of music and are unable to ever really know their father, realizing all they have left are the memories he left behind.
We were inspired to write this script to shed light on the absentee father’s views in the pursuit of his dream, and how that dream impacted his family and most importantly, his daughters’ lives and relationships. This story asks the question why. Why was he not there in his children’s lives, and what could he have done better to convey his love for them? His daughters express their level of anger, misunderstanding, and confusion of their father not being present after their childhood years and the repercussions of his absence.
With this project, we had the opportunity to work with Angel Harper; accomplished writer, actor and director; Rana Kirkland; actor, well-known writer and producer; and Howard University alumni, Lanett Tachel, actor, writer and producer.
DC Homegrown Entertainment, wrote, produced and directed this one of a kind passionate film. Look for our film in the Capital City Black Film Festival this summer in Austin, TX. August 13-15, 2015. Also, it’s premiers in Los Angeles, California, and Washington, DC.
