Lanett Tachel: On the Move in L.A.

Posted March 28, 2016 by qotsm in Arts & Entertainment

Lanett Tachel is an up and coming actress, writer, and producer who hails from Prince George’s County Maryland. Tachel studied Theatre Arts and received her BFA from Howard University. After performing on stages in the DC Metropolitan area and touring as the lead character in ‘THE BLUEST EYE’ in the Dominican Republic, she moved to Los Angeles and has been on the move in Hollywood ever since.

As Tachel splits her time between performing on screen for both film and television, she is equally versed in drama, often cast as “the funny girl—who’s cute.” However, Tachel embodies a much broader range and hopefully she gets to execute it all.

Lanett TachelI first met the very talented Lanett Tachel while she was in her junior year in college. I had the privilege to work with her while I was casting for a lead role in a gospel music video that I was directing. I gave her a scenario and a brief backstory on the narrative and asked her to cry in the scene. Before I could say “action”, tears were streaming down her face as if raw onions were placed under her eyelids. I said “you cried as if someone just dropped dead in front you”. I was sold and she got the role.

Lanett can be seen most recently in the feature film ‘Sister Code’ as the comedic character, Wednesday who is the irritating, fast talking ex-girlfriend of the lead male. “I think the audience will understand why he left me” she says. You can also catch her as ‘Aquino’ in her supporting role in the award winning, ‘LOVE ADDICT’ by Charis Orchard. And be sure to check her out online in THE FAUX SHOW alongside Kim Coles and Erika Alexander.

She says, “L.A. is everything that people think it is…and lots of stuff that people have no idea! Out here, in L.A. as an artist, one of the first things you learn, you need to hone more than one skill. It takes some people a little longer to learn that but, the person who learns it faster goes further. You get off that bus thinking you’re going to be discovered but, there are 10,000 people a day getting off that bus. The difference is how you approach it. Most importantly, you need a platform.”

With all the doors opening for Lanett, she continues to stretch her wings and is currently on her grind working on her biggest project thus far. So stay tuned and click the link below to see her interview with QOTS Magazine.
