The Business of The Congressional Black Caucus

Posted November 15, 2018 by qotsm in Business

Each year in September in the nation’s capital, the Congressional Black Caucus’ annual legislative Conference convenes. This year was unlike any year past. The Annual Legislative Conference(ALC) is the leading policy conference that deals with issues impacting African Americans and the global Black community. As a true reflection of the conscientious atmosphere of the country, the annual conference platform was centered around highly debated topics discussed by panelists composed of numerous community and national activists, thought leaders, legislators, and concerned citizens. The Congressional Black Caucus’ objective is to provide information on economic development, civil and social justice, public health, and educational issues that will empower communities discounted by policies that don’t support their agenda.

Panelists made up of leading experts, professionals, and leaders in numerous fields held plenary sessions to discuss gun control, economic power building, business professional networking, social justice in the arts, mental and physical health, and labor. The caucus attempts to find solutions along with policies that will help form and change the way our country addresses these matters.

It’s not all serious work however. The CBC Annual Legislative Conference also partied and celebrated with a purpose. There were prayer breakfasts, brunches, musical concerts, fashion shows, and the crème de la crème- the black and white Gala and the black-tie awards dinner, where a plethora of black excellence dress in lavish gowns and tuxes to recognize well deserving honorees and award recipients.
